ʻEfesō 5
1Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
1KO IA ke faʻifaʻitaki ʻakimoutolu ki he ʻOtua, ʻo taau mo e fānau ʻofeina;
2And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
2Pea ʻaʻeva ʻi he ʻofa, ʻo hangē ko e ʻofeina ʻakitautolu ʻe Kalaisi, ʻo ne foaki ia koeʻuhi ko kitautolu ko e hifo mo e feilaulau ki he ʻOtua ko e meʻa namu kakala.
3But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.
3Ka ko e feʻauaki, mo e ʻuli kotoa pē, mo e manumanu, ke ʻoua naʻa lea tuʻo taha ki ai ʻiate kimoutolu, ʻo hangē ko ia ʻoku taau mo e kāinga māʻoniʻoni;
4Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
4Pea ko e fakalielia, mo e talanoa launoa, mo e fiengutuhua, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai lelei: kae lelei lahi ʻae fakafetaʻi.
5For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
5He ʻoku mou ʻilo eni, ʻoku ʻikai ha feʻauaki, pe ha taha ʻuli, pe ha tangata manumanu, ʻaia ko e tauhi tamapua, te ne maʻu ha tofiʻa ʻi he puleʻanga ʻo Kalaisi mo e ʻOtua.
6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
6ʻOua naʻa kākaaʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻe ha tokotaha ʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea launoa: he koeʻuhi ko e ngaahi meʻa ni ʻoku hoko ai ʻae houhau ʻoe ʻOtua ki he fānau talangataʻa.
7Therefore do not become partners with them;
7Ko ia ke ʻoua naʻa mou kau fakataha mo kinautolu.
8for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
8He naʻa mou fakapoʻuli ʻi muʻa, ka kuo mou māmangia eni ʻi he ʻEiki: mou ʻaʻeva ʻo taau mo e fānau ʻoe maama:
9(for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),

10and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.
10ʻO ʻilo ai ʻaia ʻoku lelei ki he ʻEiki.
11Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
11Pea ʻoua naʻa mou kau ʻi he ngaahi ngāue taʻefua ʻoe fakapoʻuli, ka mou valokiʻi muʻa ia.
12For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.
12He ko e meʻa fakamā ke lea ki he ngaahi meʻa ʻoku fai ʻekinautolu ʻi he fufū.
13But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible,
13Ka ko e ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē kuo hā kuo fakahā ia ʻe he maama: he ko ia kotoa pē ʻoku fakahā, ko e maama ia.
14for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
14Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe ia, “ʻĀ, ʻa koe ʻoku mohe, pea tuʻu hake mei he mate, pea ʻe foaki ʻe Kalaisi ʻae maama kiate koe.”
15Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
15Ko ia mou vakai ke mou ʻaʻeva fakaʻehiʻehi, ʻikai hangē ko e kau vale, kae hangē ko e poto,
16making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
16ʻO ngāueʻaki ʻae kuonga ke lelei, koeʻuhi ʻoku kovi ʻae ngaahi ʻaho.
17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
17Ko ia ke ʻoua naʻa mou taʻepoto, ka mou ʻilo pe ko e hā ʻae finangalo ʻoe ʻEiki.
18And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
18Pea ʻoua naʻa konā ʻi he uaine, ʻaia ʻoku tupu ai ʻae fakalielia; ka ke fonu ʻakimoutolu ʻi he Laumālie;
19addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,
19ʻO fealēleaʻaki ʻakimoutolu ʻi he ngaahi saame, mo e himi, mo e hiva fakalaumālie, ʻo hiva ke ʻai ʻae mālie ʻi homou loto ki he ʻEiki;
20giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
20ʻO ʻatu ʻae fakafetaʻi maʻuaipē ʻi he ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ki he ʻOtua ko e Tamai ʻi he huafa ʻo hotau ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi;
21submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
21ʻO fefakavaivaiʻaki ʻakimoutolu kiate kimoutolu ʻi he manavahē ki he ʻOtua.
22Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
22ʻAe kau fefine, mou fakavaivai ʻakimoutolu ki homou ʻunoho ʻomoutolu, ʻo hangē ki he ʻEiki.
23For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
23He ko e ʻulu ʻoe fefine ʻae ʻunoho, ʻio, ʻo hangē ko e ʻulu ʻa Kalaisi ki he siasi: pea ko e fakamoʻui ia ʻoe sino.
24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
24Ko ia ʻo hangē ʻoku anganofo ʻae siasi kia Kalaisi, ke pehē ʻae kau fefine ki honau ʻunoho ʻonautolu ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē.
25Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
25ʻAe kau tangata, mou ʻofa ki homou ʻunoho, ʻo hangē ko e ʻofa ʻa Kalaisi ki he siasi, ʻo ne foaki ia koeʻuhi ko ia;
26that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
26Koeʻuhi ke ne fakatapui mo fakamaʻa ia ʻi he fufulu ʻoe vai ʻi he folofola,
27so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
27Koeʻuhi ke ne ʻatu ia kiate ia ko e siasi kuo teunga lahi, pea ʻikai hano ʻila, pe ha feʻufeʻu, pe ha meʻa pehē ʻe taha; ka koeʻuhi ke māʻoniʻoni pea taʻehanomele.
28In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
28ʻOku totonu ke ʻofa ʻae kau tangata ki honau ʻunoho ʻo hangē ko honau sino ʻonautolu, Ko ia ʻoku ʻofa ki hono ʻunoho, ʻoku ʻofa ia kiate ia.
29For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,
29He ʻoku teʻeki ha tangata ʻe fehiʻa ki hono sino ʻoʻona; ka ʻoku fafanga ʻo fakamoʻui ia, ʻo hangē ko e ʻEiki ki he siasi:
30because we are members of his body.
30He ko e ngaahi kupu ʻakitautolu ʻo hono sino, ʻo hono kakano, mo hono hui.
31“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
31“Ko e meʻa ni ʻe tukuange ai ʻe he tangata ʻa ʻene tamai mo ʻene faʻē, pea hoko ia ki hono ʻunoho, pea ʻe kakano taha pe ʻakinaua.”
32This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.
32Ko e meʻa fakalilolilo lahi eni: ka ʻoku kau ʻeku lea kia Kalaisi mo e siasi.
33However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
33Ka mou taki taha ʻofa ʻae tangata ki hono ʻunoho ʻo hangē pe ko ia; pea ke fakaʻapaʻapa ʻae fefine foki ki hono ʻunoho.
