17So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.
17Pea ko e toʻutangata kotoa pē meia ʻEpalahame ʻo aʻu kia Tevita ko e toʻutangata ʻe hongofulu ma fā; pea meia Tevita ʻo aʻu ki he fetuku ki Papilone ko e toʻutangata ʻe hongofulu ma fā; pea mei he fetuku ki Papilone ʻo aʻu ki he Kalaisi ko e toʻutangata ʻe hongofulu ma fā.
18Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
18Pea naʻe pehē ʻae ʻaloʻi ʻo Sisu Kalaisi: Kuo fakanofo ʻene faʻē ko Mele kia Siosefa, pea teʻeki ai te na feʻiloaki, kae ʻiloange, kuo feitama ia ʻi he Laumālie Māʻoniʻoni.
19And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.
19Pea ko Siosefa ko hono ʻunoho, ko e tangata angatonu, pea naʻe ʻikai ʻi hono loto ke talaki fakahā ia, ka naʻa ne tokanga ke tukuange fakafufū pe ia.
20But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
20Kae lolotonga ʻene fifili ki he ngaahi meʻa ni, ʻiloange, kuo hā mai kiate ia ha ʻāngelo ʻae ʻEiki ʻi he misi, ʻo ne pehē, “Siosefa, foha ʻo Tevita, ʻoua te ke manavahē ke maʻu ʻa Mele ko ho ʻunoho: he ko ia kuo fakatupu ʻiate ia ʻoku mei he Laumālie Māʻoniʻoni.
21She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
21Pea te ne fāʻeleʻi ʻae tama, pea te ke ui hono huafa, ko SISU: ko ia ia te ne fakamoʻui hono kakai mei heʻenau ngaahi angahala.”
22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
22Pea naʻe fai ʻeni kotoa pē koeʻuhi ke fakamoʻoni ʻaia naʻe folofolaʻaki ʻe he ʻEiki ʻi he palōfita, ʻo pehē,
23“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
23“Vakai, ʻe feitama ʻae tāupoʻou, pea ʻe fāʻeleʻi ʻae tama, pea ʻe ui hono huafa, ko ʻImanuela:” ko hono ʻuhinga “Ko e ʻOtua ʻiate kitautolu.”
24When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife,
24Pea kuo tuʻu hake ʻa Siosefa mei he mohe, pea fai ʻe ia ʻo hangē ko e fekau ʻae ʻāngelo ʻae ʻEiki kiate ia, ʻo ne ʻomi ʻa hono ʻunoho:
25but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
25Ka naʻe ʻikai te na feʻiloaki kaeʻoua ke ʻaloʻi ʻe ia ʻa ʻene ʻuluaki tama: pea ne ui hono huafa ko SISU.
