Mātiu 17
1And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
1PEA hili ʻae ʻaho ʻe ono, pea vaheʻi ʻe Sisu ʻa Pita, mo Semisi, mo Sione ko hono tokoua, ʻo ne ʻave ʻakinautolu pe ki ha potu moʻunga māʻolunga,
2And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.
3And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him.
3Pea vakai, kuo hā mai ʻa Mōsese mo ʻIlaisiā kiate kinautolu, ʻo na feleaʻaki mo ia.
4And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
5He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
6When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified.
7But Jesus came and touched them, saying,“Rise, and have no fear.”
7Pea haʻu ʻa Sisu, ʻo ala kiate kinautolu, mo ne pehē, “Tuʻu hake, pea ʻoua ʻe manavahē.”
8And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
9And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them,“Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”
9Pea ʻi heʻenau ʻalu hifo mei he moʻunga, naʻe fekau ʻe Sisu kiate kinautolu, ʻo pehē, “ʻOua naʻa tala ki ha taha ʻaia kuo hā mai, kaeʻoua ke toetuʻu ʻae Foha ʻoe tangata mei he mate.”
10And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?”
10Pea fehuʻi kiate ia ʻene kau ākonga, ʻo pehē, “Ko e hā ʻoku pehē ai ʻe he kau tangata tohi, “ʻE tomuʻa haʻu ʻa ʻIlaisiā?”
11He answered,“Elijah does come, and he will restore all things.
11Pea lea ʻa Sisu, ʻo pehēange kiate kinautolu, “Ko e moʻoni ʻe tomuʻa haʻu ʻa ʻIlaisiā, ʻo fakatonutonu ʻae meʻa kotoa pē.
12But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.”
12Ka ʻoku ou tala atu kiate kimoutolu, Kuo hili ʻae haʻu ʻa ʻIlaisiā, pea naʻe ʻikai te nau ʻilo ia, ka kuo nau fai kiate ia ʻenau faʻiteliha. ʻE mamahi pehē foki ʻae Foha ʻoe tangata ʻiate kinautolu.”
13Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.
13Pea toki ʻilo ai ʻe he kau ākonga, ko ʻene lea ia kiate kinautolu kia Sione ko e Papitaiso.
14And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and, kneeling before him,
15said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water.
15“ʻEiki, ʻaloʻofa ki hoku foha; he ʻoku vale ia, pea mamahi lahi: pea ʻoku faʻa tō ki he afi, pea faʻa tō ki he vai.
16And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him.”
16Pea naʻaku ʻomi ia ki hoʻo kau ākonga, ka naʻe ʻikai te nau faʻa fakamoʻui ia.”
17And Jesus answered,“O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.”
17Pea lea ʻa Sisu, ʻo pehēange, “ʻAe toʻutangata taʻetui mo angakovi, ʻe fēfē hono fuoloa ʻo ʻeku ʻiate kimoutolu? ʻE fēfē hono fuoloa ʻo ʻeku kātakiʻi ʻakimoutolu? ʻOmi ia ki heni kiate au.”
18And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly.
18Pea naʻe valoki ʻe Sisu ʻae tēvolo; pea ʻalu kituʻa ia ʻiate ia: pea naʻe moʻui ʻae tamasiʻi talu mei he feituʻulaʻā ko ia.
19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
19Pea toki haʻu fakafufū pe ʻae kau ākonga kia Sisu, ʻo pehē, “Ko e hā naʻe ʻikai ai te mau faʻa kapusi ia?”
20He said to them,“Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
20“Pea talaange ʻe Sisu kiate kinautolu, “Ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻomou taʻetui: he ʻoku ou tala moʻoni atu kiate kimoutolu, Kapau ʻe ʻai hoʻomou tui ʻo hangē ko e foʻi tengaʻi musita, te mou pehē ki he moʻunga ni, ‘Hiki ʻi heni ki he potu na;’ pea ʻe hiki ia: pea ʻe ʻikai ha meʻa ʻe taha ʻe taʻefaʻafai ʻekimoutolu.
22As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them,“The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men,
22Pea ʻi heʻenau kei ʻi Kaleli, naʻe pehē ʻe Sisu kiate kinautolu, “ʻE lavakiʻi ʻae Foha ʻoe tangata ki he nima ʻae kau tangata:
23and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.
23Pea te nau tāmateʻi ia, pea ʻi hono ʻaho tolu ʻe toe fokotuʻu ia.” Pea naʻe mamahi lahi ai ʻakinautolu.
24When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the tax?”
25He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying,“What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from others?”
25Pea pehē ʻe ia, “ʻIo.” Pea kuo haʻu ia ki he fale, pea taʻofi ia ʻe Sisu, ʻo pehē, “Saimone, ko e hā ho loto? ʻOku maʻu ʻe he ngaahi tuʻi ʻo māmani ʻae totongi pe ʻae tukuhau ʻia hai? ʻI heʻenau fānau, pe mei he kakai kehe?”
26And when he said, “From others,” Jesus said to him,“Then the sons are free.
26Pea talaange ʻe Pita kiate ia, “ʻI he kakai kehe.” Pea pehē ʻe Sisu kiate ia, “Pea tā ʻoku ʻataʻatā ʻae fānau.
27However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.”
27Ka ko eni telia naʻa tau fakaʻita kiate kinautolu, ʻalu koe ki tahi, ʻo taumātaʻu, ʻo toʻo ʻae ika ʻoku fuofua kai; pea ʻi hoʻo faʻai hono ngutu, te ke ʻilo ʻi ai ʻae paʻanga: ke ke toʻo ia, ʻo ʻoatu kiate kinautolu koeʻuhi ko kitaua.”
