Saame 39

1I said, “I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle, so long as the wicked are in my presence.”
1NAʻA KU pehē, “Te u vakai ki hoku ngaahi hala, telia naʻaku angahala ʻi hoku ʻelelo: te u ʻai ʻae noʻo ki hoku ngutu, ʻi he kei ʻi hoku ʻao ʻae angakovi.”
2I was mute and silent; I held my peace to no avail, and my distress grew worse.
2Naʻaku noa, ʻi he fakalongo pē, naʻaku taʻofi au mei he lea, ʻio, mei he lelei; pea naʻe tupu ai ʻeku mamahi.
3My heart became hot within me. As I mused, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue:
3Naʻe vela hoku loto ʻiate au, pea lolotonga ʻeku fifili naʻe vela ʻae afi: pea u toki lea ʻaki hoku ʻelelo,
4“O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!
4“ʻE Sihova, ke ke fakaʻilo kiate au hoku ngataʻanga, mo hono fuofua ʻo hoku ngaahi ʻaho, pe ko e ia; koeʻuhi ke u ʻilo ki hono lahi ʻo ʻeku vaivai.”
5Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath!Selah
5Vakai, kuo ke ngaohi hoku ngaahi ʻaho ke tatau mo e ʻaofinima pe taha; pea ko ʻeku moʻui ʻoku hangē ko e meʻa noa ʻi ho ʻao: ko e moʻoni ko e tangata kotoa ʻi heʻene tuʻumaʻu ko e mātuʻaki vaʻinga ia. Sila.
6Surely a man goes about as a shadow! Surely for nothing they are in turmoil; man heaps up wealth and does not know who will gather!
6Ko e moʻoni ʻoku ʻalu ʻae tangata kotoa ʻi he ʻata loi: ko e moʻoni kuo nau mamahi taʻeʻaonga: ʻoku ne tānaki ʻae koloa, pea ʻoku ʻikai te ne ʻilo pe ko hai te ne maʻu ia.
7“And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.
7Pea ko eni, “ʻE Sihova, ko e ʻoku ou tatali ai? ʻOku ʻiate koe ʻeku ʻamanaki lelei.
8Deliver me from all my transgressions. Do not make me the scorn of the fool!
8Fakamoʻui au mei heʻeku ngaahi talangataʻa kotoa pē: ʻoua naʻa ke ngaohi au ko e manukiʻanga ʻoe vale.”
9I am mute; I do not open my mouth, for it is you who have done it.
9Naʻaku noa, naʻe ʻikai te u mafaʻa hoku ngutu; koeʻuhi ko koe naʻa ke fai ia.
10Remove your stroke from me; I am spent by the hostility of your hand.
10Toʻo atu hoʻo ʻiate au: kuo u ʻauha ʻi he ʻaho nima.
11When you discipline a man with rebukes for sin, you consume like a moth what is dear to him; surely all mankind is a mere breath!Selah
11‌ʻOka ke ka tautea ʻae tangata ʻaki ʻae tākitala ʻi heʻene hia, ʻoku ke pule ke mole atu hono lelei ʻo hangē ko e ane: ko e moʻoni ko e vaʻinga ʻae tangata kotoa pē. Sila.
12“Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at my tears! For I am a sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers.
12Fanongo mai ki heʻeku lotu, ʻE Sihova, mo ke fakafanongo ki heʻeku tangi; ʻoua naʻa ke fakalongo ʻi hoku ngaahi loʻimata: he ko e muli au ʻi ho ʻao, mo e ʻāunofo, ʻo hangē ko ʻeku ngaahi tamai kotoa pē.
13Look away from me, that I may smile again, before I depart and am no more!”
13Tuku siʻi ai pe au, koeʻuhi ke u toe maʻu ʻeku mālohi, ʻi he teʻeki ai te u ʻalu ʻi heni, pea te u ʻikai leva.
