ʻIsaia 57

1The righteous man perishes, and no one lays it to heart; devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from calamity;
1‌ʻOKU pekia ʻae kakai māʻoniʻoni, ka ʻoku ʻikai tokanga ki ai ʻe ha tangata: pea ʻoku ʻave ʻae kakai lotu moʻoni, ka ʻe ʻikai ʻilo ʻe ha taha ʻoku ʻave ʻae kakai māʻoniʻoni mei he kovi.
2he enters into peace; they rest in their beds who walk in their uprightness.
2Te ne ʻi he fiemālie: te nau mālōlō ʻi honau ngaahi mohenga, ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻeveʻeva ʻi he angatonu.
3But you, draw near, sons of the sorceress, offspring of the adulterer and the loose woman.
3“Kae ʻunuʻunu mai ki heni, ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi tama ʻae fefine fiemana, ko e hako ʻoe tonofefine mo e feʻauaki.
4Whom are you mocking? Against whom do you open your mouth wide and stick out your tongue? Are you not children of transgression, the offspring of deceit,
4‌ʻOku mou manuki kia hai? ʻOku fakamanga homou ngutu kia hai, pea fakateteʻe ʻae ʻelelo? ʻIkai ko e fānau ʻakimoutolu ʻoe angatuʻu, ko e hako ʻoe loi,
5you who burn with lust among the oaks, under every green tree, who slaughter your children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks?
5‌ʻOku fakavela ʻaki ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi tamapua ʻi he lolo ʻakau moʻui kotoa pē, ʻo tāmateʻi ʻae fānau tupu ʻi he ngaahi teleʻa, ʻi he lalo lilifa?
6Among the smooth stones of the valley is your portion; they, they, are your lot; to them you have poured out a drink offering, you have brought a grain offering. Shall I relent for these things?
6‌ʻOku ʻi he ngaahi maka molemole ʻoe vaitafe ʻa ho ʻinasi; ko ia, ʻio, ko ia foki ko ho ʻinasi: ʻio, kuo ke lilingi ki ai ʻae feilaulau inu, kuo ke ʻatu ki ai ʻae feilaulau kai. Pea te u maʻu koā ʻae fiemālie ʻi he ngaahi meʻa ni?
7On a high and lofty mountain you have set your bed, and there you went up to offer sacrifice.
7Kuo ke ʻai ho mohenga ʻi he moʻunga māʻolunga: ʻio, naʻa ke ʻalu hake ki ai ke fai hoʻo feilaulau.
8Behind the door and the doorpost you have set up your memorial; for, deserting me, you have uncovered your bed, you have gone up to it, you have made it wide; and you have made a covenant for yourself with them, you have loved their bed, you have looked on nakedness.
8Pea ʻi he tuʻa matapā mo e tuʻa pou kuo ke fokotuʻu hoʻo fakamanatu: he kuo ke liʻaki au ha taha kehe, pea kuo ke ʻalu hake, kuo ke fakalahi ho mohenga, pea fai ʻae fuakava mo kinautolu; naʻa ke manako ki honau mohenga ʻi he potu naʻa ke mamata ki ai.
9You journeyed to the king with oil and multiplied your perfumes; you sent your envoys far off, and sent down even to Sheol.
9Pea ne ke ʻalu ki he tuʻi mo e meʻa tākai, pea naʻe fakalahi hoʻo ngaahi meʻa namu kakala, pea fekau ki he mamaʻo hoʻo kau talafekau, pea ne ke fakalieliaʻi koe ʻo aʻu ki heli.
10You were wearied with the length of your way, but you did not say, “It is hopeless”; you found new life for your strength, and so you were not faint.
10Kuo ke ongosia ʻi hono lahi ʻo ho hala; ka naʻe ʻikai te ke pehē, ‘ʻOku ʻikai ha ʻamanaki:’ kuo ke ʻilo ʻae moʻui ʻa ho nima; ko ia naʻe ʻikai te ke mamahi ai.
11Whom did you dread and fear, so that you lied, and did not remember me, did not lay it to heart? Have I not held my peace, even for a long time, and you do not fear me?
12I will declare your righteousness and your deeds, but they will not profit you.
12Te u fakahā hoʻo māʻoniʻoni, pea mo hoʻo ngāue; koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te nau ʻaonga kiate koe.
13When you cry out, let your collection of idols deliver you! The wind will carry them off, a breath will take them away. But he who takes refuge in me shall possess the land and shall inherit my holy mountain.
13‌ʻOka ke ka tangi, tuku ke fakamoʻui koe ʻe hoʻo kakai tokolahi: ka e ʻāvea ʻakinautolu kotoa ʻe he matangi; ʻe ʻave ʻakinautolu ʻe he vaʻinga: ka ko ia ʻoku falala kiate au te ne maʻu ʻae fonua, pea nofo ʻi hoku moʻunga tapu;”
14And it shall be said, “Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people’s way.”
14Pea ʻe pehē ʻe ia, “Mou laku hake, mou laku hake, teuteu ʻae hala, toʻo ʻae tūkiaʻanga mei he hala ʻo hoku kakai.
15For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.
15He ʻoku pehē ʻe he tokotaha lahi mo māʻolunga ʻaia ʻoku ʻafio ʻi he taʻengata, ko hono huafa ko e Māʻoniʻoni; ʻOku ou nofo ʻi he potu māʻolunga mo māʻoniʻoni, pea ʻiate ia foki ʻoku loto fakatomala mo angavaivai, ke fakamoʻui ʻae loto ʻokinautolu ʻoku fakatomala.
16For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made.
16Koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te u fai maʻuaipē, pea ʻe ʻikai te u houhau maʻuaipē: koeʻuhi ʻe vaivai ʻae laumālie ʻi hoku ʻao, pea mo e ngaahi laumālie kuo u ngaohi.
17Because of the iniquity of his unjust gain I was angry, I struck him; I hid my face and was angry, but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart.
17He naʻaku houhau koeʻuhi ko e hia ʻo ʻene manumanu, pea teʻia ia: naʻaku fufū au, pea ne u houhau, pea naʻe ʻalu talangataʻa ia ʻi he hala ʻo hono loto.
18I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners,
18Kuo u vakai ki hono ngaahi hala, pea te u fakamoʻui ia: te u tataki foki ia, pea toe ʻatu ʻae ngaahi fakafiemālie kiate ia mo ʻene kau mamahi.
19creating the fruit of the lips. Peace, peace, to the far and to the near,” says the LORD, “and I will heal him.
19‌ʻOku ou fakatupu ʻae fua ʻoe loungutu; Fiemālie, fiemālie kiate ia ʻoku kei mamaʻo, pea kiate ia ʻoku ofi,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; “pea te u fakamoʻui ia.”
20But the wicked are like the tossing sea; for it cannot be quiet, and its waters toss up mire and dirt.
20Ka ʻoku tatau ʻae angakovi mo e tahi hou, ʻoku ʻikai faʻa tokalelei ia, ʻoku laku hake ʻe hono ngaahi peau ʻae pelepela mo e ʻuli.
21There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”
21‌ʻOku pehē ʻe hoku ʻOtua, “ʻOku ʻikai ha fiemālie ki he angahala.”
