ʻIsaia 58

1“Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins.
1“TANGI kalanga, ʻoua ʻe taʻofi, hiki hake ho leʻo ʻo hangē ko e meʻalea, pea fakahā ki hoku kakai ʻenau angahala, pea ki he fale ʻo Sēkope ʻenau ngaahi hia.
2Yet they seek me daily and delight to know my ways, as if they were a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the judgment of their God; they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God.
2Ka ʻoku nau kumi ʻi he ʻaho kotoa kiate au, pea fiefia ʻi he ʻilo ki hoku ngaahi hala, ʻo hangē ko e puleʻanga naʻe fai māʻoniʻoni, pea taʻeliʻaki ʻae tuʻutuʻuni ʻa honau ʻOtua: ʻoku nau kole kiate au ʻae ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni ʻoe angatonu; ʻoku nau fiefia ʻi he ʻunuʻunu atu ki he ʻOtua.
3‘Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’ Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers.
3‌ʻOku nau pehē, ‘Ko e kuo mau ʻaukai, ka ʻoku ʻikai te ke ʻafioʻi? Ko e kuo mau fakamamahi ai homau laumālie, pea ʻoku ʻikai te ke tokangaʻi?’ “Vakai ʻi he ʻaho ʻo hoʻomou ʻaukai ʻoku mou ʻilo ʻae fiemālie, pea pule ke fai hoʻomou ngāue kotoa pē.
4Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with a wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high.
5Is such the fast that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the LORD?
5‌ʻOku pehē koā ʻae ʻaukai kuo u fili? Ko e ʻaho ke fakamamahi ʻe he tangata hono laumālie? Ko e meʻa ia ke mapelu ki lalo hono ʻulu ʻo hangē ko e kaho, pea ke fofola ʻae tauangaʻa mo e efuefu ki lalo ʻiate ia? Te ke ui ʻae meʻa ni ko e ʻaukai, pea ko e ʻaho fakatuʻotuʻamelie kia Sihova?
6“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?
6“ʻIkai ko eni ʻae ʻaukai kuo u fili? Ke vete ʻae ngaahi noʻo ʻoe angahala, ke vete ʻae ngaahi kavenga mamafa, pea ke tukuange ʻae kau tamaioʻeiki, pea ke motumotuhi ʻae ngaahi haʻamonga kotoa pē?
7Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
7‌ʻIkai ko e meʻa ke tufaki hoʻo ki he fiekaia, pea ke ʻomi ʻae masiva kuo kituʻa ki ho fale? ʻOka ke ka mamata ki he telefua, ke fakakofu ia; pea ʻoua naʻa ke fufū koe mei ho sino ʻoʻou?
8Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
8Ka pehē ʻe toki ulo atu hoʻo maama ʻo hangē ko e pongipongi, pea ʻe tupu vave hoʻo moʻui lelei: pea ʻe muʻomuʻa ʻi ho ʻao ʻa hoʻo māʻoniʻoni; pea ʻe muimui ʻiate koe ʻae nāunau ʻo Sihova.
9Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
9Pea te ke toki ui pea ʻe tali ʻe Sihova; te ke kalanga, pea te ne pehē, ‘Ko au eni.’ “Kapau te ke toʻo mei ho ʻao ʻae haʻamonga, ʻae tuhutuhu ʻoe nima, mo e lea taʻeʻaonga.
10if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.
10Pea kapau te ke tangaki ho laumālie ki he fiekaia, pea fafanga ʻae laumālie ʻoku mamahi; pea ʻe toki ʻalu hake ho maama ʻi he fakapoʻuli, pea tatau ʻae fakapoʻuli mo e hoʻatāmālie:
11And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
12And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.
12Pea ko kinautolu ʻoku ʻiate koe te nau toe langa ʻae ngaahi potu lala: te ke fokotuʻu hake ʻae tuʻunga ʻoe ngaahi toʻutangata lahi; pea ʻe ui koe, ko e fakalelei ʻoe potu ʻā kuo maumau, mo e toe fakapapa ʻoe hala ke ʻalu ai ʻae kakai.
13“If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the LORD honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly;
13“Kapau te ke taʻofi ho vaʻe ʻi he ʻaho tapu, pea ʻoua naʻa fai ki ho loto ʻi hoku ʻaho māʻoniʻoni; pea ke ui ʻae ʻaho tapu ko e fakafiefia, ko e ʻaho māʻoniʻoni ʻo Sihova, ko e ongoongolelei; pea fakaʻapaʻapa ki ai, ʻo taʻefai ki ho ngaahi hala, ʻo taʻefai ki ho loto, pea taʻeleaʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea ʻaʻau:
14then you shall take delight in the LORD, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
14Pehē, te ke toki fiefia koe ʻia Sihova; pea te u ngaohi koe ke ke heka ʻi he ngaahi potu māʻolunga ʻo māmani, pea te u fafanga ʻaki koe ʻae tofiʻa ʻo Sēkope ko hoʻo tamai:” he kuo folofola pehē ʻae fofonga ʻo Sihova.
