Lea Fakatātā 2
1My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you,
1ʻE HOKU foha, kapau te ke maʻu ʻa ʻeku ngaahi lea, mo fakafufū ʻiate koe ʻa ʻeku ngaahi fekau;
2making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding;
2Koeʻuhi ke fakatokangaʻi ho telinga ki he poto, pea ke tokanga ai ho loto ki he faʻa fakakaukau;
3yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding,
3ʻIo, kapau te ke tangi ki he ʻilo, pea ke hiki hake ho leʻo ke maʻu ʻae fakakaukau:
4if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures,
4Kapau te ke kumi ki ai ʻo hangē ko e siliva, pea hakule ki ai ʻo hangē ko e koloa kuo fufū;
5then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
5Te ke toki ʻilo ai ʻae manavahē kia Sihova, pea maʻu ʻae ʻiloʻi ʻoe ʻOtua.
6For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
6He ʻoku foaki ʻe Sihova ʻae poto: ʻoku haʻu mei hono fofonga ʻae ʻilo mo e fakakaukau.
7he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
7ʻOku tokonaki ʻe ia ʻae poto ʻaonga maʻa e kakai māʻoniʻoni: ko e fakaū ia kiate kinautolu ʻoku ʻaʻeva ʻi he angatonu.
8guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.
8ʻOku ne tauhi ʻae hala ʻoe fakamaau; pea ʻoku ne maluʻi ʻae hala ʻo ʻene kakai māʻoniʻoni.
9Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path;
9Pea te ke toki ʻilo ai ʻae māʻoniʻoni, mo e fakamaau, mo e fai totonu; ʻio, ʻae hala lelei kotoa pē.
10for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
10ʻOka hū ʻae poto ki ho loto, pea mālie ʻae ʻilo ki ho laumālie;
11discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you,
11ʻE fakamoʻui koe ʻe he faʻa fakakaukau, pea ʻe tauhi koe ʻe he poto:
12delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech,
12Ke fakamoʻui koe mei he hala ʻoe tangata kovi, mei he tangata ʻoku lea ʻaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa kovi;
13who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness,
13ʻAia ʻoku liʻaki ʻae hala ʻoe māʻoniʻoni, kae ʻalu ʻi he ngaahi hala ʻoe fakapoʻuli;
14who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil,
14ʻAia ʻoku fiefia ke fai kovi, pea ʻoku fiemālie ʻi he talangataʻa ʻae angahala;
15men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways.
15Pea ʻoku pikopiko hono ngaahi hala, pea kovi ʻa hono ngaahi ʻaluʻanga:
16So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words,
16Ke fakamoʻui koe mei he fefine muli, ʻio, mei he muli ʻoku lea fakaoloolo;
17who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God;
17ʻAia kuo ne liʻaki ʻae fakahinohino ʻi heʻene kei siʻi, pea kuo ne fakangalongaloʻi ʻae fuakava ʻa hono ʻOtua.
18for her house sinks down to death, and her paths to the departed;
18He ʻoku tahifohifo hono fale ki he mate, pea mo hono ʻalunga ki he kakai mate.
19none who go to her come back, nor do they regain the paths of life.
19ʻOku ʻikai toe foki mai ha taha ʻoku ʻalu atu kiate ia, pea ʻoku ʻikai ke puke ʻekinautolu ki he ngaahi hala ʻoe moʻui.
20So you will walk in the way of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous.
20Koeʻuhi ke ke ʻeveʻeva koe ʻi he hala ʻae kakai angalelei, pea ke maʻu ʻae ngaahi ʻaluʻanga ʻoe māʻoniʻoni.
21For the upright will inhabit the land, and those with integrity will remain in it,
21Koeʻuhi ʻe nofo ʻae angatonu ʻi he fonua, pea ʻe nofomaʻu ʻi ai ʻae haohaoa.
22but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous will be rooted out of it.
22Ka ʻe motuhi atu ʻae angahala mei he māmani, pea ʻe taʻaki fuʻu hake mei ai ʻae fai kovi.
